1. Why did the Boston Elders decide to establish a new foundation?
Tom Beam wanted his gift to be used for effective mission's efforts anywhere in the world. He also wanted his gift to be overseen by the Boston eldership. The elders felt that a new organization with this specific purpose would best accomplish what Tom Beam desired.
2. How is the BMF different from the International Mission Society (IMS) which serves New England and Europe?
The BMF is different in scope, focus, resources and strategy.
3. Is there any overlap between BMF and IMS
The BMF leadership will work hard to establish fair and equal treatment of all requests that comply with the grant seeking guidelines. It is possible for missions organizations like the IMS to apply for BMF grants. IMS proposals will receive no special consideration vs. proposals from outside the Boston area.
4. What is the process for requesting BMF funds?
In the coming months a grant making system will be developed and published to describe the types of projects that will be funded, as well as the grant request procedure.
5. When will the funds be available?
The goal is to put the grant making system in place by the end of the year so that funding of target projects can begin in early 2007.
6. Where can I find more information about the Beam Missions Foundation?
The BMF will soon have its own website which will be made available publicly.
