Galatians 6:10 Let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers

Members in the Boston Church of Christ have been very generous through their monthly giving to people with emergency financial hardships within the church. Many challenging situations have been helped through these free will offerings. The financial support is intended as a last resort when all other possibilities have been explored. This aid is intended to be a temporary help during a time of crisis.

Here is a sampling of the type of needs that have been met in 2008:
  1. emergency utility bills- 11 situations

  3. rent for members who are unemployed- 15 situations
  4. automobile repairs- 3 situations

There will be regular feedback given in the future to keep everyone informed and aware of how the funds are utilized.Opportunities to ServeGalatians 2:10 All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.Our church will be serving people in need locally through efforts during the next three months. There is a need for people to pursue opportunities in their own towns to oversee and serve people in need or join already existing local programs. Other volunteers are needed to serve in these efforts. Please raise your hand to serve in these ways. When each member of the church does their part and each person uses their talents we will see many needs met and our God honored.

Here is a list of these opportunities to serve:

  • November: Each Family Feeds a Family- multiple efforts will be performed in the Boston area to support local food pantries and deliver Thanksgiving Day food baskets to needy families.
  • December: Christmas celebrations and aid for foster teenagers cared for by the Massachusetts Department of Social Services will be ongoing in various sites in the Boston area.
  • January: Martin Luther King Day of Service and Celebration will occur. The Boston Church of Christ will work with the American Red Cross to provide a day of service and celebration in honor of MLK Day. Mack Strong, former Seattle Seahawks running back, will be the keynote speaker for the event.
