dscf1481_small.jpgMany disciples from around the Boston Church benefited from a time of great refreshment, training and inspiration at the Family Group Leaders Retreat in early December. A full day of inspirational messages and practical training from God’s Word on how to lead the way in advancing His kingdom left me fulfilled and moved to reach greater heights in my spiritual life. Doug Arthur’s appeal to the men on Saturday morning to follow the model set by the relationship of Jonathan and David in 1 Samuel 23, resonated deeply in my heart. As part of the younger generation of our church, God has provided a tremendous opportunity to build inspirational relationships with other spiritual men in my generation. I felt called to overcome Satan’s scheme to prevent men from connecting to each other at a heart level. I made the decision to pursue these relationships through deliberate conversations with men who share my desire to be sharpened into a stronger man of God; conversations about committing to deep prayer and pursuit of practicing God’s Word together.

dscf1420_small.jpgThroughout the entire weekend, my heart was filled with gratitude to God for his wisdom in providing His Kingdom as a sanctuary of strength and direction in a lost world. I also felt a great sense of appreciation for the leadership of the Boston Church. This appreciation was most evident during Saturday’s presentation of the general direction of the Boston Church entitled, "Each Part Doing Its Work." We are so blessed in Boston to have exceptionally talented men and women serving for the Lord in very specific areas. The presentation included the Church’s vision and focuses for pre-teens, teens, campus students, singles, and families; as well as dreams and plans for serving the poor and needy. I was particularly moved by how concerned the ministry staff is with being transparent and above reproach in the organization and carrying out of God’s will through the Church without compromising faithfulness to God’s Word. I am living proof of the great impact our church can have as I have had the privilege of experiencing the Boston Church pre-teen, teen, campus, and family ministries in a personal way. I left the retreat feeling a tremendous sense of personal investment in ensuring that our church continues to reflect God’s definition of the Body of Christ. This will require a strong walk with God, a commitment to understanding the Bible and putting it into practice, and a willingness to be active in each others lives in order to inspire each other and remind each other of the magnitude of our efforts. I feel compelled by gratitude to God to give of my self to build up His Church.
