It was a cool Fall day in Boston but not near as cold as last year! This year's Fall Festival and Harvest Walk were pushed up a few weeks to hopefully keep us a little warmer and help us to enjoy the day together worshiping God and serving the Poor and Needy. We were honored this year to have Randy and Kay McKean back with us to lead the service. Randy and Kay served for many years in Boston as the Lead Evangelist and Women's Ministry Leader. They currently serve in the same role in the Northern Virginia Church of Christ and have enjoyed great success from the Lord. It was great to see them again and have Kay share about their family and Randy do the lesson for us (Click here to listen to his lesson). We then had Jim McCartney lead us in our contribution and witnessed a new sister getting baptized into Christ. (Click here to go to the slide show of pictures from the event) Vanessa Embling has also set up a mechanism to order prints, (Click here to go her site to order prints) use 'harvestwalk2009' as the password.
We then jumped on the 5K course to do our walk-a-thon for the poor and needy and to raise awareness and money for HOPE worldwide. It was a great day for walking and an incredible time for fellowship as we walked around Franklin Park in downtown Boston. We were also motivated to walk by what we knew was coming at the end of the walk; many disciples had been cooking all night to prepare a feast for us at the end of our walk to also help raise money for HOPE worldwide and feed this hungry crew. We want to thank all those who served us at the Harvest Walk and especially thank the McKeans for helping us to celebrate this great day. Over $50K was turned in that day and more money is still coming in. Between this event and others sponsored by the Boston Chruch of Christ, our goal is to raise over $100K for Hope worldwide.
